Idea Pins, Story Pins and Carousels: What Downloads in 2026

Most Idea Pins now download as a single MP4 video.

Carousel Pins still download as 2 to 5 separate images.

The difference comes from Pinterest's 2023 change to Idea Pins.

Are Story Pins and Idea Pins the same thing?

Yes. Story Pins were renamed Idea Pins.

Each one could hold several pages of images or short video clips.

What happened to Idea Pins in 2023?

In May 2023, Pinterest announced it was combining Idea Pins and standard Pins into one Pin format.

Published multi-page Idea Pins were converted to video.

Features like music and editing after publishing became available on all Pins.

What do you get when you download an Idea Pin?

Usually one MP4 that contains every page.

Some Pins may still expose separate pages.

Our story downloader lists each page's file when they do.

How is Pinterest's own Idea Pin download different?

Pinterest added Idea Pin downloads in 2022.

That download stitches the pages into one video with a Pinterest watermark.

It ends with a card showing the creator's name, and the creator must allow it.

What happens when you add several images to one Pin today?

In the Pinterest app, selecting several images and videos stitches them into one video Pin.

On desktop, uploading up to 10 images creates separate Pins instead.

A stitched Pin downloads as one MP4 through our video downloader.

What is a Pinterest carousel Pin?

A carousel holds 2 to 5 images that people swipe through, per Pinterest's Business help center.

All images share one aspect ratio. Each slide can have its own title and link.

Standard carousels are images only. Video appears only in dynamic carousel ads.

How do you download every slide of a carousel?

Paste the Pin link into our carousel downloader.

It lists the image from every slide.

Download one slide, or use Download all to save each file.

Right-click saving only grabs the slide currently on screen.

Do text, stickers and music come with the download?

Only if they're part of the video file Pinterest serves.

The downloader saves media files as they are. It can't add or remove overlays.
