Pinterest Image Downloader: Save Photos in Original Resolution, Free
Written and maintained by the SaverPin team · Last updated September 23, 2026
Save the real picture behind a Pinterest Pin, in its original resolution, using a simple link. Copy the Pin URL, paste it into the downloader above, and get the full-size file instead of a shrunken thumbnail.
Supports direct Pinterest Pin links, including supported pin.it URLs. Open the individual Pin before copying its link for the best result.
Download Pinterest Images Online
Our Pinterest image downloader lets you save the real picture behind a Pin using its link, at the original resolution it was uploaded in. You do not need to hunt for the file yourself.
Copy the Pinterest image download link from the Pin. Then paste it into the downloader and start the process. The tool checks the link and returns the full-size file.
You can use it from a browser on your phone, tablet, or computer. It works as a simple Pinterest photo saver without requiring extra software.
For a Pinterest image link download, always use the URL of the individual Pin. A board or profile link may not identify the picture you want.
Once processing finishes, download the available file to your device in JPG, PNG or WebP, whichever format the source was stored in.
How to Download an Image from Pinterest
Downloading a Pinterest image takes only a few steps. You need the link to the individual Pin and a browser.
- 1
Open the Pin
Open the Pin with the image you want to save, on the Pinterest app or website.
- 2
Copy the link
Tap the share icon (or the three-dot menu) and choose Copy Link.
- 3
Paste it into the box above
Paste the link into the box at the top of this page.
- 4
Let it check the Pin
Wait a few seconds while the tool checks the Pin and locates the original image.
- 5
Download the full-size file
Tap Download to save the image at its original resolution.
1. Find the Image on Pinterest
Open Pinterest and find the picture you want to save. Open the individual Pin before copying anything.
A Pin page contains the specific image and its details. A profile or board URL points to a collection of Pins instead.
2. Copy the Pinterest Image Link
Open the Pin's sharing options and select Copy link. Pinterest gives you a URL that identifies that specific Pin.
Use this Pinterest download link with the downloader. Avoid copying a profile or board link if you want one specific image.
3. Paste the Pinterest Link
Return to the downloader and find the input box. Paste the copied URL into the box.
The tool uses this link to identify the Pin and locate the original image file. You do not need to inspect the page source yourself.
4. Click the Download Button
Click the Download button to process the link. The tool checks the Pin and prepares the full-resolution image file.
Processing time can vary based on the link and file size. Wait for the download option to appear.
5. Save the Pinterest Image
Select the available download option to save the file to your device. Your browser usually places downloaded files in its default Downloads folder.
On phones, the file may appear in your browser's downloads area, your Photos app, or your device's file manager, depending on your browser and download settings.
What Pinterest Links Does Our Image Downloader Support?
The downloader works with links that identify an individual Pinterest Pin. Use the Pin's URL whenever possible.
Direct Pinterest Pin Links
A direct Pin link points to one specific post on Pinterest. This gives the downloader a clear target to process.
Copy the link from the individual Pin and paste it into the input box.
Short pin.it Links
Pinterest also uses shortened pin.it links for sharing Pins. Paste the short link directly into the tool and it resolves to the full Pin automatically before processing.
Board and Profile Pages
A board holds many Pins, and a profile holds many boards, so neither points at one specific image.
Open the exact Pin whose image you want, then copy that Pin's own link.
Links That Are Not Supported
Some URLs do not identify one specific image. These links may not work with the downloader.
- Profile URLs point to a user's Pinterest profile rather than one Pin.
- Board URLs point to a collection of Pins. They do not identify one specific image.
- Search URLs show search results instead of one individual Pin.
- Invalid or incomplete URLs may not contain enough information to identify the intended Pin.
- Private or inaccessible Pins may not provide media that the downloader can retrieve.
Why You Should Copy the Individual Pin Link
Open the actual Pin before copying its URL. This gives the downloader a direct reference to the picture you want.
A profile or board can contain hundreds of Pins. The downloader cannot know which image you mean from that type of link.
For a reliable Pinterest image download, open the Pin, choose Share, and copy its link. Then paste that link into the tool.
Pinterest Image Download in Original Resolution
Image quality depends on the file Pinterest stores for that Pin. Our downloader returns the original upload instead of a resized copy.
Pinterest stores Pin images as JPG, PNG or WebP, depending on how the file was originally uploaded and processed.
What "Original Resolution" Means
Original resolution means the same pixel dimensions and file the uploader put on Pinterest, not a version resized for a feed or a search result thumbnail.
Pinterest generates several smaller thumbnail sizes to display Pins quickly across the site and app. Our tool looks past those and requests the largest version Pinterest has on file for that Pin.
JPG, PNG and WebP Explained
JPG (or JPEG) is a compressed photo format, commonly used for photography-style Pins. PNG supports transparency and sharp edges, common for graphics, text-based images, and infographics. WebP is a newer format Pinterest also uses; it can hold either photo-style or graphic-style images at a smaller file size.
The downloader delivers the file in whichever of these formats the source image was actually stored in. It does not convert a JPG into a PNG or add compression that was not there.
Does the Downloader Improve Image Quality?
No. The downloader retrieves the available file from the linked Pin.
It does not upscale a low-resolution image into a genuinely higher-resolution one. Sharpening or enlarging a small file cannot recreate detail that was never captured.
For the best result, start with a Pin whose uploader posted a high-resolution original.
Why Right-Click "Save Image As" Isn't Enough
When you right-click a Pin on Pinterest.com and choose Save Image As, your browser usually saves whatever version is currently rendered on the page, which is often a resized thumbnail served from Pinterest's content delivery network (CDN) for faster loading, not the original file.
Our downloader requests the Pin's original media directly rather than saving whatever thumbnail happens to be displayed, so it can recover the full-resolution upload even when the on-page preview is a smaller CDN-cached copy.
Download Pinterest Images on Any Device
You can use the downloader from a phone, tablet, or computer. A browser handles the process without requiring a separate app.
Pinterest Image Downloader for Android
Open Pinterest and find the image Pin you want to save. Open the Pin, then use the sharing option to copy its URL.
Next, open your browser and visit the downloader. Paste the Pinterest link into the input box and start the download.
After processing finishes, save the file. You can usually find it in your browser's Downloads folder, your Gallery app, or your device's file manager.
Pinterest Image Downloader for iPhone
Open the image Pin in Pinterest and copy its link using the Pin's sharing options.
Open your browser and visit the downloader. Paste the Pin link into the input box and start processing.
Once the file becomes available, download it. Use the share sheet's Save Image option, or check the Files app, to move it into Photos.
Pinterest Image Downloader for iPad
The process on an iPad works much like the iPhone.
Copy the link from the individual Pinterest Pin, open your browser, and paste the URL into the downloader.
Start the download and check the browser's download area or the Files app for the saved file.
Pinterest Image Downloader for Windows PC
Open Pinterest in your browser and find the image Pin. Open the Pin and copy its URL.
Visit the downloader in another browser tab. Paste the link into the input box and click the download button.
Your browser will normally save the image in the Downloads folder. You can change this location through your browser's download settings.
Pinterest Image Downloader for Mac
Open Pinterest in Safari, Chrome, or another supported browser. Find the image Pin and copy its link.
Paste the URL into the downloader and start processing. Download the available image when processing finishes.
Check your browser's download list or the Downloads folder to find the file.
Download Pinterest Images Without an App
You do not need a separate downloader app when the tool works through a browser. The basic process stays the same across supported devices.
Copy the Pin link, open the downloader, paste the URL, process it, then download the file.
This browser-based approach also avoids installing unknown software just to save a picture.
What Kind of Pinterest Images Can You Download?
Pinterest hosts several kinds of image content. Here's what our tools support, and what they don't:
| Pinterest content | Download support |
|---|---|
| Standard Pin images | Yes, at original resolution |
| Carousel slides (multiple images in one Pin) | Yes, via the dedicated carousel downloader |
| Idea Pin and story pin images | Yes, via the dedicated story downloader |
| Animated pins (GIF) | Use the dedicated GIF downloader instead |
| Board cover images | No, open the individual Pin that image comes from instead |
| Profile pictures | No |
A single-image Pin gives this downloader a specific file to process. Carousels and Idea Pins hold several images inside one Pin, so they use their own dedicated tools linked below.
For the best result, open the individual Pin and copy its link, then use the tool that matches its content type.
Why Isn't My Pinterest Image Downloading?
A Pinterest image download can fail for several reasons. Most problems come from the link, the Pin, the browser, or a temporary processing issue.
You Copied the Wrong Pinterest Link
The URL may point to a page instead of the specific image Pin.
Solution: open the image Pin first, use Share, then Copy link, and paste that URL into the downloader.
You Copied a Board or Profile URL
Board and profile links contain multiple Pins. They do not identify one specific image.
Solution: open the exact image you want and copy the URL from that individual Pin instead.
The Pin Is Private
Private or restricted content may not provide media that the downloader can access.
Solution: check whether you can open the Pin normally. If you cannot access it, use a publicly accessible Pin instead.
The Pin Has Been Deleted
Pinterest may still show an old link after its Pin disappears. The downloader cannot retrieve media that no longer exists.
Solution: open the link on Pinterest first. If the Pin no longer loads, look for another active version from the creator.
No Downloadable Image Was Found
The Pin may load correctly but contain no image file that the downloader can process, for example if it is a video or GIF Pin.
Solution: check the Pin's content type. Video Pins need our video downloader; GIF Pins need our GIF downloader.
The URL Is Invalid
A copied URL can become incomplete or altered during copying. Extra characters can also cause processing problems.
Solution: return to Pinterest and copy the link again, then paste the new URL without changing it.
The Browser Is Blocking the Download
Browser settings can sometimes prevent files from downloading automatically. Pop-up or download restrictions can also affect the process.
Solution: check your browser's download permissions and make sure the site can start downloads when you click the download button.
The Image Opens Instead of Downloading
Some browsers open an image file in a new tab instead of saving it directly.
Solution: use the browser's download option for the opened file. On a computer, right-click the image and choose the browser's save option; on mobile, use the browser's available download or share option.
Where Are Downloaded Pinterest Images Saved?
The save location depends on your device and browser. Most browsers use a default Downloads folder unless you choose another location.
Android
Open your browser's download list first. You can also check the Downloads folder, or your Gallery app, through your device's file manager.
The exact location can vary between Android devices and browsers.
iPhone and iPad
Check the Downloads folder in the Files app. Safari can store downloaded files there based on your download settings.
Use the share sheet's Save Image option to move a downloaded picture into your Photos library.
Windows
Open File Explorer and select the Downloads folder. Most desktop browsers save downloaded files there by default.
If you changed the browser's save location, check that folder instead.
Mac
Open Finder and select Downloads. Safari and many other browsers use this folder by default.
You can check your browser's download settings if the file is not there.
Do You Need Pinterest to Download an Image?
You need access to the Pinterest Pin you want to download. Your downloader does not need to replace the Pinterest app or account.
Do You Need a Pinterest Account?
Pinterest requires an account for some features, such as creating Pins and saving content to boards.
For our downloader, the key requirement is a usable Pinterest Pin link. If you can access the public Pin and copy its URL, you can submit that link to the tool; we never ask for a Pinterest account or login.
Access rules can vary for individual Pins. Private or restricted content may not provide media that the downloader can retrieve.
Do You Need the Pinterest App?
No. A browser-based downloader like ours does not require the Pinterest app. You can copy a supported Pin link from Pinterest and paste it into the tool.
Pinterest also supports browser access to its own service. The exact features available can vary between the app and browser.
Can You Use a Browser Instead?
Yes. A browser lets you open the downloader, paste the Pinterest link, and process the Pin.
This works across supported phones, tablets, and computers. Your browser also controls the downloaded file's location and download permissions.
Can You Download a Public Pin Without Logging In?
This depends on Pinterest's current access rules and the specific Pin. Public availability does not guarantee that every Pin can be processed.
If a public Pin opens normally, copy its individual URL and submit it to the downloader. If Pinterest requires access, the downloader cannot bypass that restriction.
Is Pinterest Image Downloader Safe?
A downloader should never ask for more access than it needs. You should also understand how the service handles your link, files, and device.
Do You Need to Enter Your Pinterest Password?
No. Our downloader never asks for your Pinterest password to process a Pin URL.
Never enter your Pinterest password into an unfamiliar downloader. Pinterest uses account credentials for its own login system, and our tool only ever needs the Pin link itself.
Does the Tool Require an Account?
No. Our downloader works around the Pin URL rather than your Pinterest account.
You can use it without creating a separate account, and you never need to provide your Pinterest login details.
Are Downloaded Images Stored on Our Servers?
No. We don't store the files you download. When you submit a Pin, our server requests that public page just long enough to find the image it contains, and the resulting file streams straight through to you rather than being written to disk or a database.
We also don't keep a record of your download history.
What Happens to the Pinterest URL?
The URL is used for that single request to locate the image. It is not written to a database or attached to your identity.
Our hosting provider does keep short-lived technical logs, things like IP address, timestamp, and error traces, for security and debugging. These rotate automatically and are never used for profiling or advertising; see our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
What Information Does the Website Collect?
Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what we collect and why. In short: we store a theme preference (light or dark) in your browser's local storage, and our host keeps short-lived technical logs for security. We don't use cookies for advertising and we don't sell data to third parties.
Does the Tool Install Software?
No. Our downloader works entirely through your browser and never asks you to install a desktop application or browser extension.
You should not need to install an unknown application just to download a picture. If a site asks you to install something to use a simple link-paste downloader, treat that as a red flag.
Browser and Download Safety
Keep your browser updated and download files only from the result you expect.
Check the file name and extension before opening it, and avoid unexpected executable files when you requested an image.
Is It Legal to Download Pinterest Images?
Downloading a Pinterest image and having permission to use it are separate issues. Copyright law can give the photographer, artist, or another rights holder control over copying, distribution, and other uses of a work. Pinterest advises users to seek permission from the copyright holder when necessary.
The safest approach is to download images you own or have permission to use, and to follow Pinterest's Terms and applicable copyright laws in your country.
Downloading Your Own Pinterest Content
If you created the image and own the relevant rights, downloading your own Pinterest content is different from copying someone else's work.
You can keep a local copy of your own image for backup, editing, or other permitted uses.
Downloading Content You Have Permission to Use
Permission from the copyright owner can give you the right to download and use a Pinterest image within the limits of that permission.
Keep a record of the permission and follow any conditions the creator gives you. Pinterest notes that it may not know who owns the copyright in a particular Pin, so you may need to contact the actual copyright holder yourself.
Pinterest Copyright and Creator Rights
Posting an image on Pinterest does not automatically transfer copyright ownership to Pinterest or to every person who can view the Pin.
Pinterest's Terms state that users retain rights in the content they post, while granting Pinterest and its users certain licenses described in the Terms. Pinterest also provides copyright reporting tools for rights holders who believe their work has been used without authorization.
Public Does Not Mean Free to Reuse
A public Pin can be visible to other Pinterest users without giving everyone permission to copy, modify, publish, or sell the image.
Before using a downloaded image outside your own personal reference, check who owns the work and what permission or license applies.
Personal Use vs Commercial Use
Saving an image for personal reference (a mood board, a recipe card, a wallpaper) does not automatically give you permission to use it in an advertisement, product, business website, or other commercial project.
If you plan to use a Pinterest image commercially, get permission from the rights holder or confirm you have another valid legal basis for the intended use.
Reposting Downloaded Pinterest Images
Downloading an image does not automatically give you the right to repost it. If another creator made the image, check whether you have permission to publish it on Instagram, your website, or another platform.
Pinterest expects users to respect intellectual property, and its Community Guidelines prohibit infringement of intellectual property rights. For questions involving local copyright law or a commercial project, consider getting advice from a qualified legal professional.
Pinterest Image Downloader vs Right-Click Save
Pinterest's own site lets you right-click (or long-press) an image and save it, so a dedicated image downloader is not strictly required. The real difference is which file each method actually gives you.
Right-Click "Save Image As"
This saves whatever image file is currently loaded in your browser. On Pinterest, the on-page preview is frequently a CDN-resized thumbnail chosen to load quickly, not the original upload.
It's the fastest option when the resolution doesn't matter, such as saving a quick visual reference.
Screenshot or Screen Capture
A screenshot captures whatever is rendered on your screen, at your screen's resolution, cropped to whatever area you selected.
It never exceeds your display's resolution and can pick up interface elements, so it's a fallback rather than a reliable way to get a clean, full-resolution file.
Our Pinterest Image Downloader
Rather than saving whatever thumbnail is on screen, the downloader requests the Pin's original media directly and gives you that file, in its original format and dimensions.
This matters most for anything where resolution counts: printing, editing, a mood board, or a reference image you want at full detail.
| Method | Resolution you get | Extra steps |
|---|---|---|
| Right-click Save Image As | Whatever preview is loaded, often a resized thumbnail | None |
| Screenshot | Limited to your screen's resolution | Cropping usually needed |
| Our image downloader | The original file Pinterest stores | Paste the Pin link |
Our Pinterest Image Downloader Features
The downloader is designed around one main task: turning a supported Pinterest image link into a full-resolution downloadable file.
The features below describe the parts of the tool that users can actually interact with.
Genuinely fast
Most pins resolve in under two seconds.
Unlimited
No daily cap, no queue, no waiting timer.
Free forever
Every tool on the site is free to use.
Private by design
We never store your links or the media you download.
Original quality
We serve the exact file Pinterest stores, never a re-encode.
No login
No account, no email, no Pinterest permissions.
Works on mobile
Built mobile-first for iOS and Android browsers.
Works on desktop
Same experience on Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.
Original Resolution Downloads
We serve the exact file Pinterest stores for that Pin rather than a resized preview, so when a larger original exists, that's what you get.
JPG, PNG and WebP Support
Images are delivered in whichever format the source was actually stored in, JPG, PNG or WebP, without an unnecessary format conversion.
No Watermarks Added
We don't add a watermark to any image you download. Whatever is already in the source file, if anything, is what you get.
Browser-Based Tool
The downloader is accessed entirely through a web browser, so the workflow stays on one page rather than a separate desktop or mobile application.
No Software Installation
No installation is required. Open the downloader in a supported browser and use the web interface instead of installing dedicated downloader software.
Works on Mobile and Desktop
The same page works from supported browsers on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows and Mac.
Free and Unlimited Downloads
There's no daily cap, no queue, and no waiting timer between downloads.
Pinterest Media Support
The tool is built specifically around supported Pinterest image URLs.
Support should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every Pin can be downloaded. If a submitted URL points to video or GIF content instead, use our dedicated video or GIF downloader.
Explore the Other Pinterest Downloaders
Pinterest Pins come in more than one shape. If the link you have points to a video, an animated pin, an Idea Pin, or a carousel instead of a single image, one of these will fit better:
Pinterest Video Downloader
Save Pinterest videos in original HD quality, no watermark added.
Open toolPinterest GIF Downloader
Download animated pins as looping GIF or MP4, keeping the animation intact.
Open toolPinterest Story Downloader
Most Idea Pins now save as one video. When a Pin still has separate pages, we list each one.
Open toolPinterest Carousel Downloader
Swipeable carousel pins hold several originals. Download all the slides at once.
